It's been a busy few months since our last update, as we've been busy with our upcoming family pantomime Cinderella, as well as getting started on next year's musical production of Sister Act. We've got a few bits to share with you though, so here goes!
Tickets for the Friday performance of Cinderella have now sold out, but there's still time to get great seats for the Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday productions. You can book online, or give us a call on 0113 212 0066.
If you've ever wanted to take to the stage or thought about joining us, why not give our open sing-throughs for Sister Act a go? We're open to all comers, from those who are experienced performers through to if you've never even sung a note. Read more and come along!
Finally, speaking of Sister Act, bookings are now open for our performance of this multiple award-nominated musical.
A Night at the Movies is over, and we're immensely proud of what we managed. 31 musical numbers plucked from the best that the world of film has to offer. Tightly choreographed, lightning fast footwork in some places, carefully arranged, unaccompanied a capella harmonies in others and immersive video projection all added to what has been called "entertainment of the highest quality" and "one of the best shows ever by Whitkirk Arts Guild".
So, what's next for the Society? As is tradition, we're picking up the colourful costumes, big wigs and glitter for our annual family pantomime. This year we're telling the classic story of Cinderella from the 2nd to the 5th of December. Tickets are available right now, so grab your family or friends and come along to join us in cheering the good guys and booing the bad guys. Book online or call us on 0113 212 0066 to get your seats!
It's a little under a month until we take to the stage with our blockbuster 2015 musical revue A Night at the Movies, and although our Friday and Saturday nights are pretty much full we've still got a few tables left on the Wednesday and Thursday. If you were thinking of booking for yourself or a group of friends to come and enjoy this entertainment-packed show then now is the time!
With cabaret-style seating and the bar open all four nights there really isn't a better way to pass an evening and unwind in the middle of the week. Even better, if you book for 10 people or more (conveniently the exact number that fits on a table) and pay in advance you get a whopping 10% discount on the whole booking.
Booking is easy, you can either use our online booking form and get it done in moments, or give us a call on 0113 212 0066. We can't wait to see you there!
What a year we have had in Whitkirk, with two successful shows. I'm pleased to say that I'm still being stopped in the street and both shows are still being discussed.
Louise Norbury-Robinson first approached committee and said that she would like to see a traditional panto in Whitkirk, which would be modern in its approach, but traditional in its delivery. Well, with her co-director Lynne Bigland they certainly achieved their goal. A traditional story with non-stop jokes, modern music and in some cases alternative words to fit the show. This fast moving panto kept both our young and older audience entertained.
An excellent cast supported by the technical and stage crew worked tirelessly to make this show a success. Finally, to our audience, we must thank you. Your support and valid feedback make sure we can perform to the best of our ability in a small venue with limited resources.
As we head into the new year, our thoughts focus on our next show A Night at the Movies, a revue. Don't forget to book your table soon to avoid disappointment.
Have an enjoyable festive season and a happy new year.
