Privacy & data
This page gives an overview of what personal information we collect, and what we do with it.
When you browse this website
When you browse this website we collect anonymous information about which pages you visit, the type of browser you are using, and some other details. We use this information to improve our website.
If you wish to opt out from this, you can enable Do Not Track in your browser.
When you sign up for the newsletter
If you sign up for our newsletter - either by using the form on our website, by ticking a box whilst booking tickets or in person at a Whitkirk Arts Guild event - we will collect your name and email address. We will use these to send you email updates about the Society, our shows and upcoming events a few times a year.
We will never sell your details to any other company, nor will we share them with any company not directly involved in sending you our email.
When you book a ticket
When you book a ticket we collect details like your name, email address, postal address and telephone number. We use these to collect payment, deliver your tickets and get in touch in case of problems. If you pay by card, we don't see any of your card details except for the last four digits of your card number.
After a year, if you haven't booked any more tickets, we remove your personally identifiable details except for something called a hash of your email address - we can't turn it back into a useable email address, but it does let us tell if you come back to book tickets again in the future.
We also send a hash of your details - which cannot be turned back into any personal information - to Facebook for the purposes of improving our advertising (for example, by not showing you an advert for a show you've already booked to see). These details are not used for anything else, and are not stored by Facebook once they have finished processing them.
When you get in touch with us
If you get in touch with us by any means, for example by email, telephone or messaging us over social media, we might ask you for some extra information to help us answer you more effectively. We'll never ask for something we don't need, and we will never use those details for something you didn't consent to (for example, we will never subscribe you to our newsletter if you emailed us with a question about a booking).
Contacting us
If you have any questions about your data, want to see what we know about you, want to update your details or want us to forget anything we know about you please contact us using the details on our contact page.
